I thought this article and the images of Middle Earth (a.k.a. Earth before the flood/Great Bombardment/expansion) were particularly interesting, similar could be said for Game of Thrones...

great site, i remember having been on it before late one night, looks like i never bookmarked it. I seem to remember there is a long interview with the Russian author that Silvia Ivanova (newearth) put together and translated, I'll see if I can find it in my history.
